WOW ok a busy week with lots of miles and life! I think that I might do blog posts every couple days or over the weekend. What do you guys think?
So some highlights.... I got accepted into the Masters program at Merrimack College for Nutrition and Human Performance. I also was offered a spot as a walk on for the D1 XC and track team... like WHAT?! So I am pretty sure I will be running for them as well. I am so nervous to balance everything, but I also thin it will be really good for me to be part of a team and find different ways to run since I am have never really done any "quick" races!
I also have been LOVING working at Marathon Sports. The days pass by so fast when I am there. I am only working 15-20 hours a week, but I feel like right now thats the perfect amount. It also takes me about 40:00 to get there, so its a hike!
Last night (Thursday) I went to see THE Rolling Stones play in concert at Gillette Stadium. I went with my sister, her 2 friends, my cousin and his fiance, and my parents. I have only ever been to ONE other concert in my life with my friend Kyla who passed away. We saw Ed Sheeran when we were in 8th grade. It was super cool to see Mick Jagger and WOW can that man move for 80 years old. He put on quite the show, and it was a late night (I went to bed at 1 am RIP) but worth the experience!
I COMPLETED my 25 mile run today. It was 11 AM when I started, I got 5 hours of sleep, and have some other family medical issues going on with my grandfather Papa, so with stress from that too. I did NOT want to run 25 miles after not really sleeping, visiting my grandfather this morning at the hospital, and feeling fatigue from the week. But, I went out, I just about held the pace I was suppose to, and I held down 3 gels and a BPN GObar all while running! Just over a 3 hour run, and MAN can I say I am happy its over. 15 more miles on deck tomorrow then we taper. Simulation part 1 DONE.
Some hard things.... My grandfather Papa, who I share the same birthday with, I visit at least 2-3 times a week, and just LOVE fell off a ladder a few weeks ago (I have told him multiple times to PLEASE not use the ladder, but he is a bit "hard headed"... runs in the family) and since then he hasn't been 100%. He has had many heart attacks as well over the years. Earlier this week my grandmother called 911 since he wasn't feeling "right" which usually is how he feels when he is having a heart attack. Sure enough he was having one, so he has been at the hospital since then. Yesterday was a complicated day, and he was suppose to have a procedure done today which we aren't sure if he will survive since his heart is so weak but, if he doesn't try it then his heart will only be functioning at 20% which is a recipe for disaster. But, now its pushed until Monday which has its pluses and minuses... so please keep him in your prayers!
I have felt BEAT especially in my legs. I haven't been super hungry and my legs are definitely holding a good amount of water retention from all of the miles and the heat ramping up. This ultra prep has definitely taught me a lot. I am almost there and actually so excited to go to Texas though. Just have to stay smart, stay on top of nutrition and hydration, and keep my head in the game.
I also start my 2 summer courses next week so I am a bit nervous for those, since I need to get an A in both! Send good thoughts to me for Organic Chemistry please!
How was your week? Any fun facts? Such a long recap... lots of life, miles, and summer vibes!
