One foot in front of the other

I knew today would be a mental challenge to get through training. I had two 10 mile runs with a lift sandwiched between. Being a high mileage week, it being the end of the week, and a few 80+ degree days, I was just tired. My run this morning was in 99% humidity, but it wasn’t too bad since it was only about 70 degrees out. I lifted right after that, which looks SO different now. A lot of light weight and functional movements, and ended up being 45:00 total. I showered, then just sat on the couch until I decided I could attempt to go do another 10 miles. I did NOT want to. I wanted to take a nap, relax, and not go run again in 80 degrees with tired legs. But, I got my butt up, out the door, and started. It was SLOW for me. I ranked up some 9+ minute miles, but got it done and was proud for finishing. Sometimes that’s all that matters!

I also went to visit my grandparents this afternoon when I was done training. My poor grandfather Papa fell a few weeks ago and his whole right leg/side is REALLY bruised and hasn’t gotten better. It’s not broken or fractured just taking a long time to heal. He’s still in pain though which hurts me heart. I can’t imagine not having my grandparents in my life, so I’m always so thankful to give them a hug and spend some time with them. It really helped me mentally to go visit and see them today, despite him being in pain.

This weekend I only have ONE 10 mile run each day, so I am looking forward to that being it! I’m also working both days, so I’ll be busy.

What are your plans this weekend? Anyone going away for Memorial Day? Good luck to anyone running races!
